What we did in class, today – Students used their mobiles to take a picture of their Empower3000 usernames and passwords which were displayed on the board. Then, I projected the URL (http://www.empower3000.com) on the board. Using a volunteer’s username and password, I demonstrated how to log in to the site. Students were told that if they did not finish the LevelSet today, they could finish it at home. The diagnostic test is available online from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., local time. It was explained that there is no set number of questions on the diagnostic. I explained that Empower3000 keeps generating reading questions until it is sure of the student’s reading level. Consequently, some students may answer 18 questions while others may have to answer 30 or 40.
