First body paragraph

What we did in class, today – We discussed two ways to earn bonus credit:

  1. Go to the Writing Lab on the first floor of the library between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for help with editing your paper. You will receive 0.5% bonus credit for each 45-minute tutoring session (5% maximum credit). Be sure to download the bonus credit form under Documents and Links.
  2. Read at least 20 Empower3000 articles and do the accompanying Activities before midnight on Feb. 28. To find extra articles to read, click on the search button in Empower3000 and enter a keyword. Be sure to choose articles with Activities.

Using the Compare and contrast point-by-point body paragraph template, we worked on the rough draft of our first body paragraph. Here is Omar’s first body paragraph rough draft:

The initial point of comparison and contrast is physical description. They are both similar in terms of screens, keyboards, cameras,
and speakers. Both have LED screens as well as keyboards. In addition, common features found on both are cameras and speakers. However, laptops and desktops differ physically in several aspects. The resolution of the laptop’s screen is commonly inferior to that of the desktop. For example, each iMac display is superior to most laptops because the colors are individually color-calibrated (Apple, 2014). Furthermore, unlike the desktop, the laptop’s keyboard does not feature numerical keys. Another difference is the laptop camera produces at most 5 megapixels in contrast to that of the desktop, which produces commonly over 8 megapixels. The final point of comparison is the speakers. Unlike the laptop, the desktop sound system includes subwoofers, high volume, and greater distribution of sound.
