What we did in class, today – We discussed the difference between a cause and a contributing factor. The, we used the handout Two Centuries of Progress for rapid reading practice and skimming/scanning practice. Afterwards, I showed students how to find additional Achieve3000 articles to read.
- Read at least three Achieve3000 articles and complete the corresponding activities before midnight on Friday, Feb. 20. Please note that if you did not read three articles last week, you need to make them up in addition to the three articles for this week. For example, if you only read two articles last week, you need to read five Achieve articles and do the corresponding articles this week.
- Choose an interesting/unusual topic for a cause and effect chain of events essay.
What we will do on Monday, March 2 – We work on reading skills and begin writing a cause and effect chain of events essay that will be presented to the class as a PowerPoint.
