What we did in class, today – We reviewed how to write process body paragraphs and conclusions. Afterwards, we used “speed writing” to compose our body paragraphs and conclusion paragraph. Those students who wrote at least 300 words and uploaded their rough drafts to Turnitin earned 10 marks. Students who did not upload their rough drafts to Turnitin can still earn 5 marks by opening a Turnitin account and seeing me during my office hours. If they bring their essays saved to their flash memories, I will upload the essay to Turnitin and they will receive 5 marks. If you have classes during all of my conference hours, send me an e-mail listing a schedule of your classes. I will, then, try to arrange a time that is mutually convenient for us.
- Create a Turnitin account if you have not already done so. The class ID and password are near the bottom of the second page in the syllabus. Be sure you choose the class ID and password for your section.
- Go to your Achieve3000 inbox. I have sent you three articles to read: “Visiting a Volcano,” “The Only Place to Study,” and “Okapis Say ‘Cheese.’” Read the three articles and complete only the Activities before 11:55 p.m. on Friday, October 2. I will record your first attempt scores. If you did not earn at least 75 or above, then go to the inbox and click on any of the other articles there and complete their Activities. Please note that you will be unable to access your inbox until after you have completed the LevelSet diagnostic test.
- Log into Turnitin on Sunday, Oct 4, and click on view submission. Next, click on the call out box near the bottom of the page. Then, you will see the recorder. Press the play button and listen to my comments.
What we will do in class on Monday, Oct 5 – We will revise our rough drafts.
