Paraphrasing

What we did in class, today – We discussed direct and indirect quotations as well as quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing, and synthesizing. Then, we reviewed pp. 54-58 in Great Writing: From Great Essays to Research. Afterwards, we completed Activities 1 and 2 in the book.

Homework 

  1. Go to your Achieve3000 inbox. Choose any three articles to read. If you have already read the articles in your inbox, click on “Search” at the top of the page and search for a topic that interests you. Complete only the Activities for the three articles before 11:55 p.m. on Friday, October 16. I will record your first attempt scores. If you did not earn at least 75 or above, then go to the inbox and click on any of the other articles there and complete their Activities. As of 11:55 p.m. on Friday, October 16, you should have marks recorded for nine (9) Activities in SIS. Be sure to make up any missing activities.
  2. If you have not written the Thought Question for “How Much for a Glass of Water,” complete it. I will deduct 10 marks for late work.
  3. If you have not submitted your process essay, bring your flash memory to me during my office hours so that I can upload it to Turnitin and mark it. Ten (10) marks will be deducted for late work.
  4. Read pp. 61-66 in Great Writing: From Great Essays to Research before class on Monday, Oct. 19

What we will do in class on Monday, Oct. 19 – We will work on summarizing and synthesizing.
