What we did in class, today – Students submitted their working outlines, which are based on their choice of one of the topics in Fall 2015 Essay 3 Topics and Guidelines. Next, we reviewed how to write an introduction for an argument essay (Development – introduction and pp. 172-173 in Great Writing: From Great Essays to Research [GW]). Students, then, wrote the rough draft of their introduction. Next, we reviewed how to write a claim (argument) paragraph. Following a discussion on reading techniques, students completed Final Exam In-class Reading Practice 1 (available in MyGUST). Students had to be present to receive credit for completing the practice.
Essay 2 – Essay 2 has been marked. Please listen to my comments in Turnitin and check that I’ve entered the correct mark in SIS. (Let me know within two days if I have made an error.) Students who have not submitted Essay 2 have until Wednesday, Dec. 2, to bring me their essay saved on a flash memory. Ten marks will be deducted for late submission unless you have an excused absence for Thursday, Nov. 26, that you have already submitted to Student Affairs.
