Section 6 (Monday & Wednesday Section): Intro to class & diagnostic reading quiz

What we did in class, today – We reviewed the course syllabus and calendar. Afterwards, I distributed Vocabulary List 1 (available in MyGUST). Finally students took a diagnostic reading quiz. (This was not for a mark.)

Bonus credit opportunities – For each 45-minute tutoring session at the Writing Lab (located on the first floor of the library), you will receive 0.5% extra credit per tutoring session if you stay the entire 45 minutes and if you work sincerely. The maximum extra credit you can earn is 5%. Send an e-mail to Ms. Reem or Ms. Rawan to book a tutoring session. (Their e-mail addresses are available in MyGUST.) Your participation must be documented. Download this form and take it with you to the tutoring session.

Homework

  • Students should complete the Vocabulary List 1 worksheet and bring it to class on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
  • Review pp. 2-19 in Great Writing: From Great Essays to Research.

What we will do in class on Wednesday, Jan. 20 – We will take a diagnostic writing test, review the Vocabulary List 1 worksheet and begin Unit 1 (pp. 2-19) in Great Writing: From Great Essays to Research.
