Connectors and transition words, conclusions, and brainstorming

What we did in class, today – Class began with a review of connectors and transition words and completed Activity 13 and read Essay 4 before completing Activity 14 (pp. 20-23 in Great Writing 5). Afterwards, the class compared conclusions of essays in Activity 15.1 (pp. 24 in Great Writing 5). Students then read Essay 5 and completed Activities 16 (for a Textbook Activity mark) and 17 (pp. 24-27 in Great Writing 5). Students were asked to choose one of the topics in Activity 18 (pp. 27-28 in Great Writing 5) and brainstorm it (Activity 18 on pp. 27-28 in Great Writing 5).

Homework

  • Finish brainstorming your topic in Activity 18 (pp. 27-28 in Great Writing 5) before class on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
  • Complete the Activities for the two assigned Achieve3000 articles ‘Yoga for Everyone’ and ‘Book Fair’ in Somalia’ before midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 1. These articles are in your Achieve3000 inbox.

What we will do in class on Wednesday, Feb 1 – We will finish working on our outline in Great Writing 5, so be sure to bring your textbook. We will also be completing an Achieve3000 reading and, afterwards, writing Thought Question 1 in class, so be sure to bring your laptop and a flash memory.
