Sunday: Thesis sentence and outline

What we did in class, today – It was announced that students must download and install Pearson Lockdown Browser; otherwise, they will not be able to take the post-tests. Class discussion focused on the thesis sentence and its relationship to the body paragraphs. Students wrote a thesis sentence and completed ‘Using Outlines’ (p.17 in the Pearson e-reader). Students completed 3.2 Recall 1 and 3.2 Recall 2, which had to be completed in class. I announced I will remove the marks if students completed these exercises outside of class since it had been announced in class on May 16 and an email had been sent on May 16 emphasizing that all Pearson homework must be completed in class.

Course Grade – Please note that your overall Pearson grade has been uploaded to MyGUST, so you are now able to see your course grade.

Homework

  • Register for Pearson MySkillsLab through MyGUST if you have not done so already. Create a Gmail account if you do not already have one.
  • For those of you who need help installing the Pearson LockDown Browser, I have created a step-by-step file with pictures (Installing the Pearson LockdownBrowser) that will show you how to install it.

What we will do in class, Monday (May 20) – Students will take a learning styles quiz and fill out an opinion graphic organizer as related to their response to ‘Secrets for Surviving College and Improving Your Grades’ (pp. 5-9 in Pearson’s e-Text in MySkillsLab).
